California just took a bold step to confront the epidemic of loneliness and disconnection among boys and men.

In a first-of-its-kind executive order, Governor Gavin Newsom is calling on state agencies to address the emotional isolation so many boys and young men face, and to build a future where connection, purpose, and mental health support are accessible to all.

We’re proud that our CEO, Marlon Morgan, was invited to share his perspective with EdSource on what this means for youth mental health and why it matters for schools, families, and communities across California.

Reflecting on the significance of the executive order, Marlon told EdSource’s Vani Sanganeria, “There’s just not a lot of examples in our society of men who are strong and can get things done, but also find some strength and vulnerability and can open up emotionally… I’d like to see California continue to invest in roles like wellness coaches and recruit more men, especially for our boys.”

At Wellness Together, we’ve seen firsthand how connection saves lives. This executive order is an important acknowledgment that boys and young men are struggling, and they deserve to be seen, heard, and supported.

We’re committed to helping make that vision a reality. Learn more about connection, belonging, and youth mental health from Dr. Vivek Murthy and other national leaders at the 9th Annual Wellness Together Conference, taking place September 29 - October 1 in San Diego. Register Here.
