  • Dr. Vivek Murthy

    19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States

    Dr. Vivek Murthy, the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States, is a world-renowned health authority and transformative leader whose groundbreaking work has reshaped public dialogue and organizational strategies around mental health, workplace well-being, social connection, and the impact of technology on health. Serving two non-consecutive terms in this esteemed role, Dr. Murthy has led landmark initiatives — particularly on mental health, workplace well-being, loneliness, and youth mental health in the digital age — that have shaped government and organizational policy on a global level, including in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australia. He also serves as the co-chair of the WHO Commission on Social Connection, the first global effort to improve health, education, and economic outcomes by leveraging the power of stronger human connection.     Beyond his government service, Dr. Murthy has been a trusted advisor to leading companies such as Airbnb, Netflix, and Estée Lauder on pandemic preparedness, organizational wellness, and the evolving landscape of technology’s impact on mental health. His insights have also informed boards and initiatives at the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the NCAA, RAND Corporation, and the Kaiser Family Foundation.   • Dr. Anna Malaika Tubbs

    Author of New York Times Bestseller, The Three Mothers

    Anna Malaika Tubbs is a New York Times bestselling author and multidisciplinary expert on current and historical understandings of race, gender, and equity. With a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Masters in Multidisciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge in addition to a Bachelors in Medical Anthropology from Stanford University, Anna translates her academic knowledge into stories that are clear and engaging. Her articles have been published by TIME Magazine, New York Magazine, CNN, Motherly, the Huffington Post, For Harriet, The Guardian, Darling Magazine, and Blavity. Anna’s storytelling also takes form in her talks, including her TED Talk that has been viewed 2 million times, as well as the scripted and unscripted screen projects she has in development. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their three kids.

  • Rainn Wilson

    Award-Winning Actor, Comedian, and New York Times Bestselling Author

    Rainn is an Emmy-nominated and SAG award-winning actor best known for playing the inimitable “Dwight Schrute” for nine seasons on NBC’s The Office. He recently wrapped Lessons in Chemistry with Brie Larson for AppleTV+ and the unscripted travel series Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, which aired on Peacock in May of 2023.

    He stars in Jerry & Marge Go Large , with Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening; Utopia for Amazon; Roger Michell's Blackbird, opposite Kate Winslet; The Meg alongside Jason Statham; Star Trek: Discovery; Hesher, opposite Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt; James Gunn’s Super, with Kevin Bacon and Elliot Page; Cooties opposite Elijah Wood; Juno; Galaxy Quest; and Almost Famous.

    He has an MFA from NYU’s Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts and spent 10 years doing theatre in NYC before moving to LA. He was on Broadway in The Tempest with Patrick Stewart, and the Tony nominated London Assurance . Rainn performed the critically acclaimed one-person monologue Thom Pain (Based on Nothing) at The Gefen; and was the lead role in the political farce The Doppelganger at Steppenwolf Theater.

    Rainn founded the digital media company, Soul Pancake (3.5 mil subscribers on YouTube). He is the author of The Bassoon King and the NYT best-selling SoulPancake: Chew on Life’s Big Questions . His newest book — another NYT best-seller — Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution, was released in April 2023.

  • Michael Tubbs

    Former Mayor of Stockton, CA & Founder of End Poverty in California

    Michael D. Tubbs was making history. In 2016, he was elected Mayor of Stockton at 26 years old. He was the city’s first African-American Mayor and the youngest Mayor of any major city in American history. As Mayor, Tubbs was lauded for his leadership and innovation. He raised over 20 million dollars to create the Stockton Scholars, a universal scholarship and mentorship program for Stockton students. Additionally, he piloted the first mayor-led guaranteed income pilot in the country. Currently, he is the Special Advisor to California Governor Gavin Newsom for Economic Mobility and Opportunity; the Founder of Mayors for a Guaranteed Income (MGI); and the Founder of End Poverty in California (EPIC).

    Under his leadership, Stockton was named an “All-America City” in 2017 and 2018 by the National Civic League. The city saw a 40% drop in homicides in 2018 and 2019, led the state of California in the decline of officer-involved shootings in 2019, and was named the second most fiscally healthy city in California. Additionally, it was recognized as one of the most fiscally healthy cities in the nation and was featured in an HBO documentary film, “Stockton on My Mind.”

    Tubbs has been named a fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics and The MIT Media Lab, a member of Fortune’s Top 40 under 40, a Forbes 30 under 30 All-Star Alumni, the “Most Valuable Mayor” by The Nation, the 2019 New Frontier Award Winner from the JFK Library, and the 2021 Civic Leadership Award winner from The King Center. Prior to his tenure as Mayor, Tubbs served as a Councilmember for the City of Stockton District 6, a high school educator, and a fellow for the Stanford Design School and the Emerson Collective.

    On November 16, 2021, Tubbs released “The Deeper The Roots: A Memoir of Hope and Home,” published by the Flatiron Books imprint, An Oprah Book. The book — which the LA Times describes as “intimate and insightful”—not only relates Tubbs’ story of growing up in poverty but lays his vision for leadership and policy that is more empathetic and responsive to people who are struggling.

  • Dr. John B. King Jr.

    10th U.S. Secretary of Education, Chancellor of The State University of New York (SUNY)

    John B. King Jr. served in President Barack Obama’s cabinet as the tenth U.S. Secretary of Education. Over the course of his extensive and influential career in public education, he has been a high school social studies teacher, a middle school principal, the first African American and Puerto Rican to serve as New York State Education Commissioner, a college professor, and the president and CEO of the Education Trust, a national education civil rights organization.

    King is currently the chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY), the nation’s largest comprehensive system of public higher education. Both of King’s parents were career New York City public school educators. He lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife, an education researcher and former teacher, and his two daughters.

  • Anya M. Kamenetz

    Journalist & Author of The Stolen Year & The Golden Hour Substack

    Anya Kamenetz speaks, writes, and thinks about generational justice; about thriving, and raising thriving kids, on a changing planet. Her newsletter on these topics is The Golden Hour. She has won many awards for her education journalism, including at NPR, where she co-created the podcast Life Kit: Parenting. Her newest book is The Stolen Year: How Covid Changed Children’s Lives, and Where We Go Now. Kamenetz currently advises the Aspen Institute and the Climate Mental Health Network on new initiatives at the intersection of children and climate change.
