Dorothy Hilleary is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee, will receive her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling from Western Seminary in Fall 2019. Dorothy is passionate about helping children, adolescents, women, and families find hope and healing, and thrive emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Often life’s wounds and disappointments can keep us feeling stuck or emotionally crippled. Dorothy desires to see individuals live abundantly with deeper joy and purpose, and enjoy connected, fulfilling relationships.

Dorothy’s counseling experience includes working with children and adolescents in the school district, and she has mentored women for more than 20 years. She also teaches regularly at the Folsom Women’s Prison, and provides case management and life coaching for women in transition and recovery. Dorothy has experience in treating depression, anxiety, shame, grief and loss, relationship issues, and career struggles. Dorothy works from an integrative framework, embracing evidenced-based approaches tailored to the individual’s needs.

Prior to entering the counseling field, Dorothy held marketing management positions with Silicon Valley-based software companies, and she holds a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas, and M.B.A. from Middlebury’s Institute of International Studies. Dorothy has been married for 26 years, and has raised two sons. For fun, she enjoys British TV, jogging, hiking, and outdoor concerts.
