Gene Burns

Gene Burns, M.A., is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (IMF #98241) and is registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Gene has a Bachelor's degree from Sacramento State University and a Masters in Psychology from Brandman University. My areas of specialty include Individual counseling, I enjoy working with individuals on their personal journey. Sometimes in life we feel like we are stuck and often we experience depression or anxiety during these times. Individual counseling is a great way to develop healthy skills and to explore what brings you peace in life. Couples, I love working with couples. I have seen many couples reconnect and move on to a more rewarding and beautiful relationship. A relationship that communicates better and has more intimacy, trust, and understanding. Teenagers, I have worked with hundreds of teenagers and have had a lot of success. I enjoy working with both young men and young women. Families, I work with parents and their children. This includes blended families. I also work with divorced parents (Co-Parenting) and their children. I help families build respect, healthy boundaries, communication skills, clear expectations, and personal responsibility.

“Any change, any loss, does not make us victims. Others can shake you, surprise you, disappoint you, but they can’t prevent you from acting, from taking the situation you’re presented with and moving on. No matter where you are in life, no matter what your situation, you always have a choice and that choice can be power.” ~ Blaine Lee
